About Me

Akhrin

A Scottish wargamer in my late 20s living in Edinburgh, I've been playing wargames (mostly Games Workshop) since my early teens.

It Will Not Die

I've run wargaming blogs for years now. Most have gone under the title Path of the Seer (both here on Blogger and for a couple of years on Tumblr), as well as a Warhammer Fantasy blog called Warhamsters. After giving up on Tumblr (the microblogging service was fine for photo-heavy posts, but discouraged any serious text posts) I've moved everything across and merged the blogs together into It Will Not Die.

The title comes from the 6th Edition Warhammer 40,000 rule of the same name (as does the tagline). The blog itself is intended as a return to my original format that included more text-based tactics posts as well as the photo posts that frequented my Tumblr feed. And while the title is inspired by 40k the blog will feature more than that with Games Workshop, other wargames, board games and card games.

Armies

Warhammer 40k

Necrons

The army that first got me into Warhammer 40,000. I first started playing when the Necrons were released as a White Dwarf list in WD216. I returned to Necrons during 5th Edition 40k, maybe 6 months to a year before the new Codex. Necrons are my primary army for 40k, sitting around 5,000pts with plenty of plans to expand. I normally play these from the standard Necron codex, but occasionally use the Maynarkh list from Imperial Armour 12: Fall of Orpheus.

Eldar (Ulthwe)

I first started Eldar early in 3rd Edition 40k and began to focus on Ulthwe when the Codex: Craftworlds book was released. Eldar are my fall-back army after Necrons, and get brought out when I fancy something a bit different.

Warhammer Fantasy

Dark Elves

I returned to Fantasy when 8th Edition was released, having not played the game since 5th Edition. I chose Dark Elves for the mass ranks of spearmen that weren’t High Elves. Though progress on painting hasn’t been very apparent they’ve performed well on the tabletop and make a good distraction from 40k.

Blood Bowl

Dark Elves

My Blood Bowl team, which was started for a club league. Their high speed and agility let me take 2nd place overall. Since then they’ve been retired to their case, but are now back on the field in a new league.

Battlefleet Gothic

Chaos (Black Legion)

A small fleet I started as a side-project, but have had little chance to play.

War of the Ring

Last Alliance of Elves and Men

Like Battlefleet Gothic this was a side-project that's never gathered any momentum, largely due to a lack of opponents.
